what is the best thing to do in Vancouver?
We are flying into Portland on July 29th and driving up thorugh Seattle and staying in downtown Vancouver till August 5th. How is scuba diving, sailing, fishing, music ......... any good ideas?
Stanley Park, the aquarium and rose garden, the historical tour through the Big Bus company, the bars and dance clubs between Nielsen and Granville, close to the Samesun Hostel, the symphony is down there, the hookers are hilarious. Good drink specials and we saw English Bay and Coal Harbour. Harbour Center is great for pictures.
Also, go see the Emily Carr exhibit at V.A.G. and check out the Michel Blais gallery. I also recommend Pacific Mall, Waterfront area and Granville Island. The P.N.E. and Cirque de Soleil is down there and they now have their own version of Wonderland.
The Persian tea room is dark and moody but I enjoy that type of thing once in a while. I liked their Taco Times better, too. There was a lovely store full of interesting Persian imports, esp. rugs.
Dr. Sun yat-Sen's gardens, too. Avoid the Robson shopping district, unless you're into packing bags full of Calvin Klein. There were no thrift shops like the Okanagan valley, though.
