Why You Should Consider A Holiday In The UK
If you are a busy person, parent or single, then you don't have much time or money to spend on holidays so a break in the UK is ideal. There's plenty of sun to be had in the UK, and there's oodles of other advantages too. For starters, you have much less to worry about with money. For popular European and US destinations, the exchange rate on Sterling really isn't the great bargain that it used to be and so holidaying in those locations is no longer such good value. You also pay no exchange rates or fees, and there will never be a question of your plastic not working as any of your UK credit cards will be recognised and you won't be charged a premium if you need to take out cash.
Then there's the travel. Just about any destination in the UK is reachable by car in one day, or high speed rail or air in less than a few hours. You may think that a flight to Europe is only a few hours, but don't forget the extra time written off by checking in two hours ahead, waiting in departure lounges, security checks and boarding gates, before having to do it all over again on the way back home. Every part of the trip there and back will essentially cost you a day in waiting, stress and wrangling your way through the airport.
At least in the UK, even if your holiday goes horribly wrong, it's not too expensive or arduous to make it back home and get everything sorted. Those unlucky to have been grounded by volcano ash this year faced huge charges from hotels and those providing alternate transport, many needing to apply for credit card extensions, having already reached their upper limit by putting the holiday on card originally. Tour firms too are starting to wobble and fold, leaving people facing bills that they thought they had already paid.
There's beauty right under our noses here in the UK. Nearly everything you can ask from a holiday abroad can be enjoyed in the UK, from activity adventures to breathtaking scenery. You can scuba-dive with basking sharks off Cornwall, or recharge your literary batteries in Bronte country by giving your credit card a tour of the UK and enjoy a truly relaxing holiday.
