weired eyesight experience!?
i have been short sighted since i was 8 [now 44]
without glasses, can't see as far as the end of my car bonnet!
few weeks ago, bougt a new set of scuba cylinders [twin 15 litres] they are VERY heavy
the first time i used them, on the walk back to my car [uphill] I thought i was gong to die!
my heart was pounding my head was thumping and my eyes were bulging from the effort.
cylinders = 2 X 15Kg Weight belt 14Kg ankle weights 1Kg plus the other kit [approx15Kg]
After i recovered my breath enough to get changed, i noticed that i could see!
i mean really see!
not 20 20 but detail at very long range
where i dive is on a hill and i could clearly see cars driving alond a road at the bottom of the hill i had never noticed there was a road there before with my glasses on!!
i pointed this out to a friend who has 20 20 vision and he could only just make out the road/cars.
What physical reason could there be for this - the effect faded after a few hours?
Your answer is in your question. When you said your eyes were bulging... literally, the effort you endured caused a change in the shape of your eyeballs, just enough to temporarily improve your vision. As your eyes settled back to their normal shape your vision returned to what you've considered 'normal'. You sound like a good candidate for a radial keratotomy, or lasik surgery.
