can i become scuba certified by february?
so im going to disney and there is this thing called Epcot DiveQuest and you dive for 40 min. and i really want to do it. but the only problem is im not scuba certified. so is it possible to work through summer and fall and hopefully get certified by december or even january to practice?
It doesn't take that long to get a scuba certification. If you go through a local dive shop that's certified by PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors), the course typically involves a book and a DVD with instructions that you watch and read. After you've went through the book and the DVD, there will be two evenings of classes and two evenings of practice in the pool. That's part 1 of your training. Then, part 2 consists of four open-water dives, where they give further instruction and you practice skills. Those four open-water dives are typically done in two sessions, like a Saturday and a Sunday.
You can do the part 1 classroom and pool work at a local dive center, and then complete part 2 at a resort or another location with a referral. This works if you'd rather do your open water checkout dives in a warmer climate.
After the classroom instruction and the four open-water dives, you're a certified scuba diver. With that, you can go to Epcot DiveQuest or any other dive location and dive. I wouldn't stop with just Epcot, though. There's so much to see underwater and so much good diving to do around the world (or even locally) that you should continue diving. Also, if you get certified this summer and do some practice, you'll get into diving more. If you're comfortable underwater, you'll enjoy diving.
