Dangers Of Scuba Diving

dangers of scuba diving
Where to buy my scuba equipment?

I recently got into scuba....I absolutely love it.
Got my certification yesterday and am looking into buyin my own gear.
Ive been lectured TONS by the instructors at my dive shop about the dangers from buying gear online.
But the truth of the matter is, I cant afford the prices in the shop!
Is it really as bad as they say it is to buy from a site, say http://www.leisurepro.com/ ?
Thanks tons!

ALSO!!
any recommendations on gear for a beginner is much welcomed!
thanks you!

There are a lot of pitfalls buying online. This gear MUST fit you. Just going by a size description won't cut it. Manufacturer's sizes differ. One's small may be another's medium. You need to actually try this stuff on. Hard to do online.
If you're on a budget, many shops that have inhouse dive clubs will also offer used good on consignment. There WILL be a shop like that in your neck of the woods. Another good place for bargains is a local scuba swap which usually happens in spring.Take along a pal that's been certified for some time to help you. I picked up a 3 gas trimix capable dive computer for 180 bucks that used online would have sold for over 500 bucks just this last spring at a swap local to me. 7mm wet suits were selling for 20-50 bucks. Dive courses were being offered for a half price (swap duration only)...and on and on..... The deals on good used equipment are out there but buying privately ( unless the item has recently been serviced) can also lead to problems.
Recommendations? Simple. There are no crappy manufacturers of dive gear. They're all good.Buy the best you can afford. By that I mean think to the future. Buying a jacket BC and thinking of wreck or cave certs later? That BC will just get left in the closet as you pony up more money for a BC more suited for the job. The trick is to think about what you eventually want to do and buy the gear capable of it that you can handle. That way you're not buying things twice.
I personally, would never buy online if my life depended on it..and it does.
